چکیده
In our paper, we introduced a low energy, high frequency, shift variant component ρ̂ of the light transport function H, that captures cross-screen filter diffraction effects rS present in the captured image. In this section, we derive statistical properties of this function rS which we use in our paper (Equation 9 in the paper). First, we present empirical properties of derivatives of ρ̂ , and then relate them to derivatives of rS.

Glare-limited Appearances in HDR Images
Alessandro Rizzi John J. McCann Abstract — Intraocular glare and simultaneous contrast control appearance in high-dynamic-range (HDR) images. This paper describes unique test targets that simulate real images. These targets change the HDR range by 500 times, without significantly changing the veiling glare on the retina. As well, these targets have nearly constant simultaneous contrast. The ran...
متن کاملTemporal Glare: Real-Time Dynamic Simulation of the Scattering in the Human Eye
Glare is a consequence of light scattered within the human eye when looking at bright light sources. This effect can be exploited for tone mapping since adding glare to the depiction of high-dynamic range (HDR) imagery on a low-dynamic range (LDR) medium can dramatically increase perceived contrast. Even though most, if not all, subjects report perceiving glare as a bright pattern that fluctuat...
متن کاملVeiling glare and perceived black in high dynamic range displays.
A perceptual experiment was conducted to measure the visibility of black-level differences in the proximity of a bright glare source. In a controlled viewing environment, visual difference thresholds were adaptively measured using dark, shadow-detail images shown on a high dynamic range liquid crystal display while an external LED lamp was used to induce intra-ocular glare over a small range of...
متن کاملCamera and Visual Veiling Glare in Hdr Images
High-dynamic-range (HDR) images are superior to conventional images. The experiments in this paper measure camera and human responses to calibrated HDR test targets. We calibrated a 4.3-log-unit test target, with minimal and maximal glare from a changeable surround. Glare is an uncontrolled spread of an image-dependent fraction of scene luminance in cameras and in the eye. We use this standard ...
متن کاملRetinal HDR Images: Intraocular Glare and Object Size
Starting from measured scene luminances, we calculated the retinal images of High Dynamic Range (HDR) test targets. These test displays contain 40 gray squares with a 50% average surround. In order to approximate a natural scene the surround area was made up of half-white and half-black squares of different sizes. In this display, the spatial-frequency distribution approximates a 1/ f function ...
